Who are we

by Iain Roberts last modified 2007-03-05 17:07

The Open Schools Alliance is a campaigning organisation supported by open source businesses, technical experts, educationalists and concerned citizens.

We are united by the common belief that the UK could enhance education, save taxpayers' money and strengthen its IT sector by treating Open Source Software fairly.

Our supporters include

  • Teachers and governors who want to exploit Open Source Software in their schools and find themselves fighting against the Government to do it.
  • Companies offering services and support for Open Source Software finding themselves unfairly treated and locked out of segments of the market.
  • Technologists who see the benefits of Open Source Software and are frustrated that the Government continues to throw away money propping up the old, increasingly discredited, proprietary software model.
  • Concerned citizens, particularly parents, who want to see the best educational opportunities for our kids
